Using ShareFile through the links in our email signatures
If you’ve ever received an email from anyone at our office, you can use a link in our email signatures to send us files via ShareFile.
- Locate the link to upload documents to ShareFile. It will say “Click here to send me files securely,” and the link portion of the text will be underlined. Click this link.
- The link will open a page in your browser asking you for your name and email before you upload the files (This enables us to keep track on our end of which files are from which clients). Fill in every field marked with a red asterisk (*) and click Continue to Upload Page.
- The next page is where you actually upload your documents. You can click the Choose Files button to browse for the file you wish to upload, or you can drag and drop files into the box with the watermark that says “DRAG FILES HERE.” You can choose more than one file to upload at once.
- Once you’ve chosen the files you wish to upload, click the Upload Files button and you’re done.
Using the ShareFile portal
- Go to https://nelsoncpa.sharefile.com.
- Enter your login information for your portal account. If you don’t know this information or you don’t know if you have an account, you can call our office for assistance at (425) 881-7350.
- The home page should have a list of folders. Click the folder you wish to upload your file to.
- Once you are in a folder, there is an Upload Files link toward the upper right of the page. Click this button.
- The next page is where you actually upload your documents. You can click the Choose Files button to browse for the file you wish to upload, or you can drag and drop files into the box with the watermark that says “DRAG FILES HERE.” You can choose more than one file to upload at once.
- Once you’ve chosen the files you wish to upload, click the Upload Files button and you’re done.
Why use something like ShareFile? Can’t I just send you my documents via regular email?
You can, but it’s probably not a good idea. Regular, unencrypted email is not a secure way to send us your data (see our page on identity security tips for more information). And while the most secure method of sending us your documents is generally in-person delivery, we understand that’s not always convenient for our clients, or even possible. So we provide ShareFile as an easy, next-best alternative for sending documents that beats the security of regular email by a long shot.
ShareFile is a cloud-based file-sharing service that enables us to send and receive encrypted documents over the Internet using either the SSL or TLS protocols and up to 256-bit AES.
